Back from SPX... I don't know what to say except it was awesome and FUN! Met a lot of nice and interesting people and bought more books and fanzines than I could carry.

As usual, fanzine awards were announced at the end of the fair. Sekventiellt.se posted a nice summary of the awards.

7 Oktober, an anthology of 12 artists, including myself, won the Audience's award. Check out the proud fathers of the book: Calle and Martin!

My favourite among the prize winners was Tom (check him out too!!) with Hela Armen, I love his style and I'm so happy for him!

Now to bury myself in a pile of comics. Looking forward to the next issue of Utopi. Most impressive and best looking "newcomer" on the fair!

Kioskvältare #2

Kioskvältare #2 will be available for purchase on Small Press Expo this weekend! Look out for this fanzine by the Comic Royale table.

For this cover I did my best to copy Efraim Ramsén's coloring technique that he applied on Kioskvältare #1's cover. This time I did the ink with an ordinary ink pen and marker instead of pen nib and brush, for solid and crisp shading.

Efraim's original sketch that I based the cover on.

Some sketches and progress shots:

I went ahead of myself and inked his right hand while it was still looking strangely swollen... fixed it with some white posca.
The angle of the poster was also boring, so I placed the camera so to speak by the candle seen on page 30, to give some more depth to a flat image.

The pencil case was a birthday gift craftet by Emelie!

Skrammel

The CD/booklet comission is nearly finished. It's been challenging and fun to do something completely different. I've always shyed away from drawing instruments and I rarely color stuff (What??? No..!)... It's good to force yourself! I've learned that if there's something you really don't like to draw, draw a humongous pile of it! A pile of horses, hands, lawyers... could be anything! I'll post the colored stuff here some time after the CD release to avoid spoiling anything to the people who are buying it.

This drawing was made with pen nib and brush.

A new comic page should be up next week. Until then this project is taking up most of my creative juices.
